Palio Legend 2 Review - An Overview

Palio Legend 2 is a 5-ply all wood premade bat that offers exceptional speed and spin combination. It also offers decent enough control.

However, it may not be a good fit if you’re a total beginner. You may need more control, so go for something beginner-friendly such as STIGA Evolution.

If not, you may want to look at Palio Expert 2. This entry-level paddle from Palio features an exceptional control rating of 10/10 (best for beginners).

If you’re not a beginner anymore, then better speed/spin may be on your mind.

That’s where Palio Legend 2.0 comes in. It’s a paddle best suited for players with an attacking style. Here’s how it looks on paper (specifications):

  • Speed: 10/10
  • Spin: 9/10
  • Control: 6/10
  • Rubber Used: Palio Hadou
  • Sponge Thickness: 2mm
  • Grip Type: Flared
  • ITTF Approved: Yes

Palio - The Brand

Chinese manufacturer Palio and UK-based manufacturer Expert Table Tennis have joined hands to produce some of the best Table Tennis gear.

Palio Legend 2, Palio Legend 3, and Palio Expert 2 are some of their products.

As per the company, the products are built with players in mind as they are professional Table Tennis players themselves.

With them, you may want to pick a paddle depending on your experience level. If you desire more speed/spin, it will come at the cost of control.

Is Palio Legend 2.0 Worth It?

Yes, Palio Legend 2.0 is one of the best offerings in the sub $60 range.

Not only is it a decent upgrade for ‘advanced’ beginners, it offers great performance without having you spend too much on the bat.

Not just beginners, it’s a good fit for intermediate players as well.

The 5-ply all wood blade offers great speed. It’s slightly heavy at around 190 grams, but as a result, it packs a punch.

Palio Hadou rubber is also ITTF-approved which sits on 2mm sponge on either sides helping you generate great spin and speed on your shots.

The tackiness is similar to DHS Hurricane 3, a popular rubber among players.

Just like its rival, STIGA Pro Carbon, Palio Legend 2 blade loses a few points when it comes to control. As a result, it’s not suitable for complete beginners.

It’s slip-resistant thanks to the flared grip at the handle.

Palio Legend 2 vs 3

As the name suggests, Palio Legend 3.0 is a successor to 2.

The near-identical racket comes at the same price point. However, 3.0 trumps 2.0 when it comes to control with a slightly better control rating of 7/10.

In other departments, these are pretty much the same racquets.

You can’t go wrong with either of these picks, but if you were to select one, Palio Legend 3 will be a better choice thanks to the better overall control.

Palio Legend 2 vs STIGA Pro Carbon

Palio Legend 2.0 and STIGA Pro Carbon comparison remains a popular one.

Both paddles are aimed at slightly advanced players because these aren’t known to offer a picture-perfect 10/10 control rating.

That’s because not many bats offer a better speed/spin combination.

Pro Carbon is lightweight, has superb specifications, but it also costs roughly $20 more. If budget isn’t an issue, you know what to do!
